Twas a funny one this... Started with the soulful murmurings of Mayer Hawthorne then developed into straight up funk. Before I knew it there was skanking jump up and a smattering of dubstep not to mention a little drizzle of mellow lovliness in the form of the leisure society and the angel brothers.
To finish we had ourselves a convoy.....

Based in New York Daptone Records home to Sharon Jones & The Dapkings, The Mighty Imperials, Antibalas, Sugarman 3 and many more. Promoting the sounds of vintage 1960s funk and soul (down to their studio equipment, recording methods and their 45 releases) they are a lesson to us all - be cool because you are cool big smile

An affectionate look at the Scottish Independent label Fence Records by Brazil Banks. Set up and run by King Creosote and Pictish Trail Fence Records lead the way in British "folk" music (although they'd probably disagree with the tag). Homemade artwork and packaging surround emotive music be it electronic, sea shanties or full band noise, recorded in studio, field or living room.
Good people that make good music.

A rather splendid selection inspired by the dubmeister himself Lee 'Scratch' Perry. Easily one of the most influential producers of any genre or decade, Lee Perry pioneered recording and production techniques which still echo (literally smiley throughout the world of music today. Be it artist, producer or general nut-nut-madman Lee Perry is a living god of music.
Worship him often for he is Kimble!
